Many are angry while many happy with the WhatsApp end-to-end encryption update. Whatever may be the responses or reaction. Every coin has two sides. Let’s explore two sides of the WhatsApp update.

Secret & Private chat: End-to-end encryption will enable you to chat privately without any fear of being tracked. Whether be tracked ethically or by cybercriminals and hackers.

File sharing end-to-end encryption: Not only messaging. However, videos, photos and all types of other file sharing are also encrypted. Group chats are also benefitted to get end-to-end encryption by WhatsApp.

No Re-installation needed: The Best part is that no need to re-install the WhatsApp. People having the latest version of WhatsApp will automatically see a pop-up menu for end-to-end encryption update and message like this:

Locked Messages: WhatsApp with their unique encryption code provides you the special key. Which is needed to unlock the messages!!!

How end-to-end encryption is initiated: You will receive a QR code when you tap on the message as shown in above image. When you scan that code with your phone, end-to-end encryption When codes are matched, a green tick will appear (end-to-end encryption established). And, when it does not then exclamation mark in red.

WhatsApp End-to-End Encryption still needs to be improvised. But why??

  1. As QR, code is necessary to be matched. Both users are required to be physically present near each other. To initiate i.e. verify end-to-end encryption.
  2. Many users are still not able to clear verification process. Even after matching the QR code.
  3. Cases have appeared where encryption and verification failed. When both users were having same smartphones with similar OS. While some succeeded with different OS smartphones.

However, the privacy of  a chat by end-to-end encryption has been a leapfrog jump in the privacy of users. Many law enforcing agencies and governments are not happy with the WhatsApp. Particularly, with its update of an end-to-end encryption.
